AKP Spokesperson Çelik to Özgür Özel: I wish you had followed a line parallel to the stance of Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez

AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik held a press conference at the party headquarters following the AKP Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) meeting, chaired by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Çelik used the following expressions:

"The principle that our President has voiced in every corner of the world and on every diplomatic platform since the day the massacres and genocides by this genocidal Israel began is that Hamas is not a terrorist organization as defined by Israel in any way, that Hamas members are people defending their homeland, and that the murderers who carry out these genocide policies and sign off on these massacres must eventually be held accountable before the law. The ultimate solution is the establishment of a Palestinian state. There is no other path to a solution than the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, possessing territorial integrity, within the 1967 borders. The Middle East problem is the Palestinian problem. It is not possible to solve other issues in the Middle East in any way without solving the Palestinian issue. To reach the point where we can say the Palestinian issue is 'resolved,' the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem and possessing territorial integrity is the sole framework for a solution." 

"OUR PRESIDENT'S NUMBER ONE ISSUE HAS BEEN GAZA"

Noting that the picture emerging as a result of the Netanyahu government's brutal massacre policies is one of the most ruthless scenes humanity has ever witnessed, Spokesperson Çelik said, "A genocide machine that targets children, women, and innocent people, uses hunger systematically as a tool of genocide, and is found guilty by all international institutions but cannot be stopped due to the ineffectiveness of these institutions, along with the members of this network, have signed off on the world's greatest massacres. Since that day, our President's number one issue has been the Gaza issue, and he has fought a great battle to first ensure a ceasefire and then to create mechanisms and tools that will lead to a lasting peace."

Çelik stated, "To reach an agreement that will ensure lasting peace, there must be an agreement on the conditions, and much more progress needs to be made in this regard. The ultimate goal must be the establishment of a Palestinian state. Plans such as the exile of Palestinians from Gaza are absolutely out of the question. Approaches such as having Palestinians governed by an authority outside of Palestine are also approaches that can never be accepted."

"WE WILL STAND AGAINST IT"

Stating that efforts for a Turkey without terrorism are continuing, Çelik said, "Just as we will not allow a Turkey without terrorism to be sabotaged in any way by certain states, I would like to express once again that we will stand against any attempt to disrupt or derail this process within the framework of approaches coming from the SDF and similar structures in Syria."

"I WISH YOU COULD HAVE STOOD WHERE MR. SANCHEZ STANDS"

Regarding the speech delivered today by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Çelik said, "He is attempting to question our President's sensitivity toward Palestine. You, as the CHP, first called Hamas a 'terrorist organization,' and upon receiving reactions, you said, 'We did not mean to call it a terrorist organization, we meant to say it carries out terrorist acts.' As a result, I wish these statements of yours on the Palestinian issue had not been made. I wish you had truly followed a line parallel to the correct stance of Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez, with whom you sit side-by-side in the Socialist International. I wish you could have stood where Mr. Sanchez stands. I see that because you love complaining about Turkey to the outside world, you have become dependent on giving references from the outside world. That is why I am telling you to follow a line more compatible with the line of Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez."

Conveying that President Erdoğan has given instructions to the Ministry of National Defense, Çelik said, "Based on all these experiences around us, he has given instructions to conduct a study on which approaches should be updated regarding Turkey's national security and the Turkish Armed Forces in the coming period. The Ministry of National Defense is conducting this study. The issue of military hospitals is also on the agenda of this evaluation."

Regarding President Erdoğan's reaction to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to attend the Gaza summit in Egypt, Çelik said, "There was no such thing as Netanyahu attending this summit in the first place. Since we are prepared for every scenario, a study had been conducted on how to act if such a situation arose. Our President's will is absolute. Our President would never accept being in the same photo frame as Netanyahu, would not accept being at the same summit, and would not accept being at the same table."

Regarding DEM Party Group Deputy Chairman Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit using the phrase 'young corpses' for our martyrs, Çelik said, "We are a party that stands against any hurtful expression directed at the memories and dignity of our sacred martyrs and esteemed veterans. We reject and condemn such words to the end. We have a clear stance here; all the processes we carry out are processes conducted within the framework of the state's characteristics and the nation's values."
