The AKP's Abdullah Öcalan plan has been revealed! 'A high-level official I spoke with...'
Following the call by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and the DEM Party's meeting with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, which ignited debates over a new peace process, a high-level AKP official speaking to journalist İsmail Saymaz stated, "There will not be another peace process."
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's handshake with DEM Party deputies at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and his request during his party's October 22 group meeting for Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, to speak in Parliament, sparked new debates in politics and public opinion regarding a peace process.
As the discussions continued, Bahçeli made a new statement, saying "Let DEM and İmralı meet." Following Bahçeli's call, the DEM Party applied to the Ministry of Justice and, after receiving approval, traveled to İmralı on December 28 to hold a meeting with the terrorist leader Öcalan.
"THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER PEACE PROCESS"
While the DEM Party's meeting with Öcalan is being evaluated as the first concrete step toward a new peace process, Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz shared details from his conversation with a high-level AKP official in his column.
Saymaz reported that the AKP official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "There will not be another peace process."
The relevant part of Saymaz's article is as follows:
When I asked the high-level AK Party official I spoke with yesterday, "Is a repeat of the peace process that ended in 2015 taking place?", he gave the following response:
"Such things will not happen anymore. They spoke, and it was said, 'Let him lay down his arms.' If he lays them down, he does; if he doesn't, he doesn't!"
I asked, "Should we not expect a peace process like the one in the past?"
He said, "Absolutely not. The situation from that time does not exist."
He stated that the basis for the talks involves 'a few points that need to be opened up in terms of freedoms' and added:
"Ending this issue completely and going down in history is a very important thing for all of us. But I am responsible for the stability and peace of the country. Do I have an urgent issue regarding peace and stability? No. Are there a few points that need to be opened up in terms of freedoms? Yes. And this is only up to a certain point. There is a limit to this as well. To tell you the truth, I don't think there is much distance left. Federation... Is there such a possibility? No. The other side cannot even talk about such a thing."
