Drawing attention to the earthquakes around magnitudes 3 and 4 that have been occurring in the region for about 2 days, with the largest being 4.5, Prof. Dr. Ercan stated the following:
"The occurrence of consecutive earthquakes around magnitude 4 in Hakkari is chilling. For the expected magnitude 7 earthquake to occur, the accumulated tension needs to reach a level capable of breaking the 43 km crust."
