Ali Mahir Başarır announces: 4 CHP deputies have entered Esenyurt Municipality

Following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place, the CHP's "trustee watch" in Esenyurt continues.

While the police have prevented CHP members from entering the municipal building since the date the trustee was appointed, a new development occurred today.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır spoke with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş over the phone.

According to T24, Başarır stated that approval was received for 4 deputies following the meeting.

The delegation of deputies formed by the CHP has been coming to the front of the Esenyurt Municipality for 13 days, stating that they needed to enter. The CHP members attempted to cross the police barricade, but the officers stated that the order they were given was not to allow passage.

"WE WILL NOT LET YERLİKAYA INTO THE BUDGET COMMISSION EITHER"

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır made a statement today in front of the police barricade at the municipal building.

Stating that the deputies were being pitted against the police, Ali Mahir Başarır said, "I spoke with Numan Kurtulmuş. I will speak once more. I told them not to pit the deputies against the police. I don't know if he will solve it or not, but he should know this; both while the parliamentary budget is being discussed and when Ali Yerlikaya comes, we will not want to let him into that commission either. If you do not let the deputies in here, you will not come to that parliament, Ali Yerlikaya. If you have any shame, don't come."

Ali Mahir Başarır held the phone conversation he mentioned in his press statement.

Receiving a positive response from his meeting with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, Başarır and the accompanying deputies Sezgin Tanrıkulu and Yunus Emre entered the Esenyurt Municipality building.

Following the meeting with Kurtulmuş, the police opened the barricade in front of the municipality upon the instruction of Ali Yerlikaya. Journalist Can Tan captured the moments the CHP deputies entered the building.
