Ali Yerlikaya announces: 'Inspectors sent to all 81 provinces regarding stray animals'

Minister Yerlikaya, who arrived in Batman for various meetings, visited the Batman Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, "All preparations regarding the implementation of Law No. 5199 on the Protection of Animals have been completed. 39 chief civil inspectors were sent today to their assigned provinces, meaning all 81 provinces. We have given them a 14-day deadline. Our civil inspectors will examine the practices of governorates, metropolitan, provincial, and district municipalities, as well as Special Provincial Administrations in detail."

Yerlikaya, who conducted inspections at the center, told members of the press:

"All preparations regarding the implementation of Law No. 5199 on the Protection of Animals have been completed. 39 chief civil inspectors were sent today to their assigned provinces, meaning all 81 provinces. We have given them a 14-day deadline. Our civil inspectors will examine the practices of governorates, metropolitan, provincial, and district municipalities, as well as Special Provincial Administrations in detail. This is not an investigation process; it is a fact-finding mission. What have the aforementioned institutions and organizations done since August 2, since the law came into effect and the regulation was issued? They will provide a form of guidance by both reviewing what has been done and reminding them of what needs to be done.

We will essentially be providing guidance to the implementers, but in summary, I want to underline this: we will send our colleagues, our inspectors, back to the provinces, meaning our 81 provinces, every two months. We will continuously share the issues identified by the inspectors with our nation in a transparent manner. Every two months, after this inspection process is completed, we will recognize those whose work on this matter we appreciate and approve of. We will first warn those who have not carried out any work, and then we will do what is necessary."
