Ali Yerlikaya announces that 5 separate criminal organizations were dismantled in Kuyu-5 operations

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya shared information about the Kuyu-5 operations on his social media account. According to the information provided by Minister Yerlikaya in his post on X, the "Kuyu-5" operations were carried out in Hatay, Ankara, Çankırı, and Konya under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Department and by the Provincial Police Departments' KOM Branch Directorates. In the operations, 5 separate organized crime groups were dismantled, led by Ömer Kartopu in central Hatay, Ali Ak in Hatay's İskenderun district, Alper Aksoy in Ankara, Recep Armağan in Çankırı, and Faris Çokkaynar, who is currently in prison, in Konya. As a result of the operations, 57 suspects who were members of these organized crime groups, including 4 ringleaders, were apprehended. It was determined that the suspects, who were members of the organized crime groups, carried out armed attacks against rival criminal groups with whom they were in territorial disputes; attempted to extort complainants by beating and threatening them; kidnapped complainants at gunpoint and demanded money from their families; intervened in debt disputes between individuals; threatened individuals with whom they had hostilities due to drug trafficking; forced complainants to sign promissory notes through irregular methods; collected debts using force and violence and prevented individuals from filing complaints; engaged in usury, putting complainants into debt with high interest rates and threatening those who could not pay; defrauded customers at industrial sites and used force, violence, threats, and insults against customers who objected; and generated illicit income through drug and arms trafficking.
