Ali Yerlikaya announces: Two international criminals sought via Interpol and Green Notice captured in Turkey
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that two international criminals sought by Russia and Georgia were captured in operations conducted in Hatay and Antalya. The operations were carried out by Gendarmerie teams in coordination with Interpol-Europol and the Directorate of Migration Management.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that two criminals sought internationally by Russia and Georgia have been captured in Turkey. Making a statement via social media, Minister Yerlikaya stated that the operations took place in Hatay and Antalya.
According to the information provided by Minister Yerlikaya, an individual identified as L.R., who was sought by Russia via an Interpol Red Notice, was captured in Hatay. It was stated that L.R. was wanted for the crime of "International Terrorism."
The other operation was carried out in Antalya. An individual identified as B.P., who was sought by Georgia via a Green Notice on charges of "Membership in an Organized Crime Group," was identified as a member of a mafia structure known to operate in Russia, referred to as "vor v zakone."
CONDUCTED WITH LARGE-SCALE COORDINATION
The operations were carried out under the coordination of the Interpol-Europol Department and the Presidency of Migration Management, through the joint efforts of the Gendarmerie General Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Department and the Hatay and Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Commands.
Interior Minister Yerlikaya included the following statements in his post:
“As a result of joint efforts conducted by the Gendarmerie General Command's KOM Department and the Hatay and Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Commands, under the coordination of the Interpol-Europol Department and the Presidency of Migration Management, operations were organized. I congratulate our Interpol-Europol Department and our Presidency of Migration Management for coordinating the operations, and our heroic Gendarmerie for carrying them out. With our strong international cooperation, we continue our fight with determination to ensure that no crime or criminal goes unpunished.”
