All eyes on that report in the Narin Güran murder case: New detentions may be coming

The investigation into the death of Narin Güran, who was reported missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found 19 days later, continues.

While 12 people, including Narin's mother, brother, and uncle, have been arrested in connection with the murder that has gripped Turkey, the perpetrator has yet to be identified.

The investigation was expanded following the additional testimony of the detained suspect Nevzat Bahtiyar, who became a confessor after the 8-year-old Narin's body was discovered.

ALL EYES ON THE REPORT FROM VAN

According to a report by Özgür Cebe from Sözcü, evidence samples collected by JASAT teams during the examination of homes, barns, outbuildings, and vehicles belonging to the 23 individuals detained on September 8—the same day the body was found—following the arrest of uncle Salim on September 2 and the start of the investigation on August 21, were sent to the Van Gendarmerie Criminal Regional Laboratory.

It has been learned that the report regarding fingerprint, clothing DNA findings, saliva and sputum samples that could show genotype compatibility on cigarette butts, as well as blood and hair samples taken from items and materials in the house, barn, and surrounding areas where it is believed Narin may have been killed, will be completed this week and sent to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which is conducting the investigation.

It was noted that the details regarding the DNA findings in the report could make a significant contribution to deciphering the murder.

NEW DETENTIONS MAY BE COMING

It has been learned that 3 expert personnel assigned to the witness protection program by the Ministry of Interior were sent to Diyarbakır, and that statements were taken from some individuals from the family and the village under the status of secret witnesses.

Based on the statements taken, it was noted that new detentions may occur in the village in the coming days.
