All eyes on the Turkish Parliament today: Critical meeting of the resolution commission
Following the terrorist organization PKK's announcement of its decision to withdraw from Turkey, the resolution commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will hold its 16th meeting today. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç will deliver presentations to the commission.
The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the TBMM as part of the new resolution process—architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed "Terror-Free Turkey" by the government—which is being conducted with the DEM Party and terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, will convene for the 16th time today.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç will be heard at today's commission meeting.
Minister Fidan is expected to share the latest status regarding the integration process of the terrorist organization Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the central government in Syria.
MINISTER TUNÇ TO EXPLAIN LEGAL STEPS
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç will inform commission members about the legal steps planned to be taken following the PKK's disarmament process. In a statement on his social media account, Tunç had said, "We will evaluate the steps that need to be taken to strengthen social integration."
COMMISSION MOVING TO REPORTING STAGE
Following the completion of the hearings in the commission, the process of preparing a report will begin. This report will include recommendations regarding potential legal regulations.
ERDOĞAN TO RECEIVE DEM DELEGATION
On the other hand, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also receive the DEM Party's Imralı Delegation at the Presidential Palace today.
The meeting at the Palace will address the latest developments in the new resolution process called "Terror-Free Turkey." It is expected that the terrorist organization PKK's decision to withdraw and the legal steps to be taken after the disarmament process will also be discussed.
Erdoğan had made a statement regarding this meeting upon his return from his Gulf tour, expressing his discomfort with the protest in Diyarbakır and saying, "We will also discuss this issue."
This will be the third meeting the DEM Party delegation will hold with Erdoğan within the scope of the process. The delegation had previously been received at Beştepe on April 10 and July 7.
