All eyes will be on Şanlıurfa in the elections! 11,230 law enforcement officers will be on duty for ballot box security
With 6 days left until the local elections, Şanlıurfa is among the cities most in the spotlight. Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak announced that they will take security measures for the March 31 Local Administration General Elections with a total of 11,230 personnel, including 6,803 police officers and 4,427 gendarmes.
Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak, in his speech at the meeting held at the governor's office, wished for the election to be held in a peaceful and secure environment in the country and in Şanlıurfa, and to result in favorable outcomes.
Stating that 1 million 252 thousand 96 voters will cast their votes in Şanlıurfa, Şıldak said, "Voting will take place in a total of 4,435 ballot boxes in 1,604 buildings. The number of public officials assigned to the ballot boxes is 8,870. All needs have been met in line with the requests made by the Provincial Election Board and district election boards from our district governorships and our governor's office. All requests for public personnel, equipment, and containers to be used as voting booths and vehicles have been fulfilled."
Governor Şıldak emphasized that they have taken the highest level of measures regarding election security and noted the following:
"We have planned and are ready to implement all measures in the field to ensure that the elections take place in a safe and peaceful environment in every corner of our province, and that the will of the voters is reflected in the ballot box freely and in accordance with democratic rules. In this context, we will take security measures with a total of 11,230 personnel, including 6,803 police personnel and 4,427 gendarmerie personnel. In response to our request to our Ministry of Interior, 700 additional security personnel will be sent to our province. This number also includes the additional reinforcement personnel. Furthermore, our security units will carry out security services on election day with a total of 2,014 vehicles, with 1,122 from our police force and 892 from our gendarmerie."
