Allegation from journalist Timur Soykan: 'Kılıçdaroğlu told a mayor to become a whistleblower and expand the IMM case'

BirGün newspaper columnist Timur Soykan has brought to the agenda a highly controversial allegation regarding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP chairmanship following an appellate court ruling of "absolute nullity." Soykan claimed that months ago, Kılıçdaroğlu visited a very prominent incumbent mayor and asked them to "become a whistleblower" and "expand the case" regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) trial, in which Ekrem İmamoğlu is also a defendant.

While the repercussions of the change in leadership at the CHP via court order and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's declaration that "I will not go to the party congress without purging the party" continue, journalist Timur Soykan shared insider information that is set to completely stir up political circles in Ankara and Istanbul.

"I AM NOT REVEALING THE NAME BECAUSE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED CONSENT"

Speaking on the program "Karga Kahvaltısını Yapmadan" (Before the Crow Has Breakfast) broadcast on OnlarTV, Timur Soykan stated that he obtained this striking information approximately 5-6 months ago. Explaining that he is withholding the name because he has not yet received the consent of the mayor in question and their inner circle, Soykan made the following claims during the broadcast:

"Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu visits a very important mayor. Referring to the legal processes in which Ekrem İmamoğlu is also being tried, Kılıçdaroğlu tells this person, 'Become a whistleblower, expand the IMM case.' I cannot reveal the name for now because I have not received the consent of that mayor and their associates."

TENSION BETWEEN THE IMM CASE AND THE CONGRESS PROCESS

This allegation put forward by Timur Soykan comes immediately after Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's accusations to his inner circle, where he stated, "How did they suddenly get rich during the previous administration? MASAK records are being examined; I will explain everything one by one."

In political circles, discussions have begun regarding whether the "purging" operation mentioned by Kılıçdaroğlu and the IMM files in the judiciary are part of a planned strategy that dates back much further than the leadership crisis experienced in the party following the local elections. All eyes are now turned toward any denials or statements that may come from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's camp or the potential mayors targeted by this serious allegation.
