Angry tenant sets house on fire after dispute with landlord

The incident occurred on the first floor of a 2-story detached house located on Şehit Bayram Yıldız Street in the Siyahser neighborhood.

According to allegations, B.S., a woman living as a tenant in the house owned by I.Y., became enraged when the landlord told her to vacate the property and set the house on fire.

Citizens in the vicinity who noticed the house quickly engulfed in flames immediately reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

While there were no injuries in the incident, the fire was brought under control and extinguished by fire crews before it could spread to the upper floor.

The house where the tenant B.S. was living, along with her belongings, burned down and became unusable in the fire.

SHE SET THE HOUSE ON FIRE BECAUSE WE TOLD HER TO VACATE

The wife of the landlord, I.Y., stated to reporters, "We let her live in our house so she could look after it, as she was a quiet person. We haven't even taken rent from her for 2 years. She called us saying a water pipe had burst. When we told her to have it fixed along with the tenant on the upper floor, she said she wouldn't pay for anything. Later, when we said 'fine, we will have it fixed, you move out,' she set the house on fire because we told her to vacate," she said.

The tenant B.S., who set the house she was living in on fire, was taken into custody by the police after the incident and brought to the police station.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
