Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council holds its first meeting of the new term

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Council held its first meeting following the March 31 Local Administration General Elections, presided over by ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş.

The meeting at the Municipal Council Conference Hall began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.

ABB Mayor Yavaş, in his speech there, wished that the March 31 elections would be beneficial for Ankara and the country.

Stating that they have left 5 years behind in office, Yavaş said that they have tried to manage the city with a transparent, participatory, and accountable approach during this period.

Yavaş expressed that they have served the city fairly without discriminating against anyone and without looking at where or how many votes came from whom, saying, "We have debated from time to time in our Council, we have been tense from time to time, but above all, the fact that not a single unfair zoning increase was made or a single decision oriented toward rent-seeking was taken in the past term is more valuable to us than all other issues. I thank all the groups that showed a common will on this matter. We have only one wish, and that is to serve Ankara all together."

Inviting all 25 district mayors to cooperate and to experience a term worthy of the capital by joining hands, Yavaş said, "We may have different political understandings, but I am sure that the goal of all of us, beyond all political views, is first to serve our city and our country. For this reason, I sincerely believe that all parties in the Council will exercise common sense."

DEPUTY MAYORS AND MEMBERS ELECTED

Following Yavaş's speech, a vote was held by secret ballot to determine the first and second deputy speakers of the Council, the clerk members, and the committee members.

As a result of the voting, Ertan Işık was elected as the first deputy speaker, and Emre Doğan as the second deputy speaker.

Ece Yılmaz, Mustafa Kemal Kömürcü, İbrahim Mert Bektaş, Özkan Deniz, Cem Şahin, and Evrim Küçük became the clerk members, while Hüseyin Çakmak, Atilla Atalay, Tufan Vural, Okan Culha, and Özgür Tosun became the committee members. The members of the specialized commissions to serve in the Council were also determined.

Mayor Yavaş closed the session to reconvene the Council on Monday, April 15, at 18.00.

On the other hand, the distribution of Council membership was as follows: "CHP 90, AK Party 45, MHP 10, Great Unity Party 1, New Welfare Party 1, and independent 1."
