Another arrest warrant issued over July 15 social media posts
Melek Akarmut, known in Mardin for her resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, has been arrested following her social media posts regarding July 15.
Mardin-based social media influencer Melek Akarmut was detained following her comments on social media platforms regarding the July 15, 2016, FETÖ coup attempt. Akarmut, known by the username @melekkkarahann, addressed the subject of July 15 in her posts.
Following an investigation, Akarmut was referred to the prosecutor's office as part of an inquiry launched by the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information." After completing procedures at the police station, Akarmut was brought to the courthouse.
Following the court hearing, it was decided that Akarmut would be arrested. The incident quickly became a trending topic on social media and drew widespread attention from the public.
