Another one added to the string of resignations in the AKP: 6 provincial chairs in two days
Following the resignations of the Elazığ and Muğla provincial chairs yesterday, the provincial chairs in Adıyaman, Niğde, and Çanakkale resigned today. The latest resignation came from Ordu AKP Provincial Chair Selman Altaş.
Following the resignations of the Elazığ and Muğla provincial chairs yesterday, the provincial chairs in Adıyaman, Niğde, and Çanakkale announced today that they have left their posts. While Çanakkale Provincial Chair Ömer Faruk Göktürk stated that he was leaving his post due to his father's health, Adıyaman Provincial Chair Faruk Bülent Kablan and Niğde Provincial Chair Mustafa Özdemir did not provide any specific reason.
Two provincial chairs had resigned in the AKP yesterday. AKP Elazığ Provincial Chair Şerafettin Yıldırım, who recently made headlines following his son's statement that "images of him using drugs were being used by political rivals," announced his resignation from the party in a statement on his social media account.
The second resignation news in the AKP yesterday came from Muğla. AKP Muğla Provincial Chair Haluk Laçin, who took office last year, announced his resignation in a written press statement. In his resignation statement, Laçin said, "Of course, this is not a farewell; as a soldier of the AK Party family, I will continue to be at the service of my party and my cause at all times. This is a relay race."
SUCCESSIVE RESIGNATIONS
The successive resignations that began yesterday continued today. Three provincial chairs announced their resignations. AKP Adıyaman Provincial Chair Faruk Bülent Kablan announced his resignation in a post on his social media account, stating: "I offer my deepest gratitude to our President and Chairman, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who entrusted me with this sacred duty and gave me the opportunity to serve our dear nation, and who has always guided us with his leadership. As a soldier of our AK Party, I will continue to work for our cause in the footsteps of our President and Chairman, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and remain at the service of our organization."
The second resignation today came from Niğde. AKP Niğde Provincial Chair Mustafa Özdemir announced in a written statement on his social media account that he was leaving his post in line with his own will and the knowledge of the headquarters. Stating that "this is not a farewell," Özdemir said he would continue to be at the service of his party.
Finally, AKP Çanakkale Provincial Chair Ömer Faruk Göktürk announced that he had resigned from his post. Ömer Faruk Göktürk, who had been serving as the AKP Çanakkale Provincial Chair since September 2024, said, "Due to both my father's health condition and the operations I need to undergo, I will have to be away from Çanakkale for a long time."
"RESIGNATIONS WILL CONTINUE"
On the other hand, journalist İsmail Saymaz announced that the resignations would continue. In a post on the social media site X, Saymaz said, "In the last 2 days in the AK Party, the provincial chairs of Muğla, Elazığ, Çanakkale, Adıyaman, and Niğde were made to resign. Allegedly, Bitlis and Tunceli are next. Additionally, AK Party MKYK member and Kadıköy mayoral candidate Veli Arslan was quietly removed 'due to some major files'."
AKP ORDU PROVINCIAL CHAIR SELMAN ALTAŞ RESIGNED
In a statement on his social media account, Altaş said, "As of today, I have resigned from my post as AK Party Ordu Provincial Chair, which I took over with great honor and pride on April 11, 2023.
During this time, I praise the Lord for granting me the honor of serving our Ordu, and I offer my deepest gratitude to our President and Chairman, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for the trust and support he has shown me.
We are soldiers of a great and sacred cause. Even though my duty has changed today, I will continue to serve this cause tomorrow with the same passion, the same faith, and the same determination. Because we know that this cause is carried out as a matter of the heart, independent of positions and titles.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all my fellow travelers with whom I have walked this path, our women's and youth branches, our mayors, our deputies, and most importantly, our dear fellow citizens of Ordu who have always been by our side.
May the Lord make our unity and solidarity permanent," he included.
