Antalya's first 'Children's Rights Bus Stop' opened

In collaboration with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, public transport stop number 10520, located on Dumlupınar Boulevard in the Arapsuyu neighborhood of Konyaaltı, has been transformed into a 'Children's Rights Bus Stop'. The stop has been equipped with articles from the 'Convention on the Rights of the Child' to inform citizens and create awareness. 

The opening ceremony of the stop was attended by Antalya Deputy Governor Erol Tanrıkulu, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Head of Transportation Planning and Rail Systems Department Nurettin Şengül, Ministry of Family and Social Services General Manager of Services for the Disabled and Elderly Dr. Yasin Akar, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Galip Sökmen, and many children. During the program, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality İsmail Baha Sürelsan Conservatory Band and Orchestra also performed a special concert for the children. 

'OUR SUPPORT WILL CONTINUE' 

Stating that the Metropolitan Municipality attaches great importance to social responsibility projects, Head of Transportation Planning and Rail Systems Department Nurettin Şengül said, "A proposal was made for one of our bus stops to become a 'Children's Rights Bus Stop' on the occasion of November 20, World Children's Rights Day. It was a very beautiful and meaningful proposal. We chose our stop in a very busy location where all residents of Antalya and children can see it, and we provided the necessary permits and support. As the Metropolitan Municipality, our support for such social sensitivity projects will always continue. As the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, we take part in all projects that will be beneficial to our Antalya," he said. 

'A CONVENTION THAT CANNOT BE CHANGED' 

Stating that children have the right to experience the beauties of life in a world full of peace, Ministry of Family and Social Services General Manager of Services for the Disabled and Elderly Dr. Yasin Akar said, "The protection of children's rights is one of the most sensitive issues for the whole world. Unfortunately, we see that many children in the world are deprived of these rights, as is the case in Gaza. The 'Convention on the Rights of the Child' is an internationally agreed-upon convention that cannot be changed. We are carrying out work across Turkey to increase social awareness. Raising children who look to the future with hope is a duty that we all must undertake," he said. 

Touching upon the joint work with the Metropolitan Municipality, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Galip Sökmen said, "I would like to especially thank our Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek for his contributions to this beautiful practice. The Mayor's support for increasing the number of such stops will continue," he expressed. 

AIMING TO INCREASE SOCIAL AWARENESS 

With the 'Children's Rights Bus Stop' located on the Konyaaltı beach, the aim is to draw attention to children's rights, explain rights to children, defend children's rights, show that they can make their voices heard, and increase social awareness on issues such as innate rights and the importance and responsibilities of the family institution and parents in learning these rights.
