Addressing his past statements such as "The Turkish economy is very good, there is a slight fluctuation in the dollar, I think interest rates should be lowered," Arda Turan said, "I messed up. I commented on subjects I had no knowledge about; it was nothing but stupidity. It is a disgrace, there is nothing else to say. I was completely talking nonsense."

Arda Turan stated that the purpose of the interview was misunderstood, adding, "What was I even doing in an interview with an economics magazine? They shouldn't have asked me. I did the interview just so I wouldn't hurt someone's feelings."
