Arms smuggling operation in 12 provinces centered in Diyarbakır
78 suspects have been detained in an arms and ammunition smuggling operation conducted across 12 provinces centered in Diyarbakır.
As a result of efforts by the Diyarbakır Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate targeting arms and ammunition smuggling, an operation was carried out in 12 provinces, including Adıyaman, Trabzon, Kahramanmaraş, Istanbul, Hatay, Şırnak, Bingöl, Şanlıurfa, İzmir, Mardin, Mersin, and Malatya. A total of 78 individuals were detained, and one person wanted for another crime was apprehended.

Searches conducted at homes and workplaces within the scope of the investigation led to the seizure of 2 weapons workshops, 42 unlicensed pistols, 268 blank-firing pistols, 10 rifles, 336 magazines, 6 thousand 7 cartridges of various calibers, 172 barrels with rifling, 183 steel materials used in converting weapons, 3 empty slides, 20 upper receivers, 1 grinding machine, 1 drill, 1 laser machine, 1 vise, a lathe, a ballistic vest, and 2 grams of narcotic substances.

Of the 78 individuals apprehended to date as part of the operation, 26 were referred to judicial authorities following their processing at the police station. Of those referred, 19 were arrested and sent to prison, while judicial control measures were imposed on 7.
