Arrest decision in armed attack on former IYI Party district head

The incident occurred on January 31 on 1528th Street in the Side neighborhood. According to the information received, an unidentified person approached the car of Hüseyin Ergen, who had arrived in front of his residential complex, and pointed a gun at him through the right window of the vehicle; however, the suspect fled the scene rapidly after the weapon jammed. 

Returning after moving about 50 meters away, the suspect aimed his weapon at Hüseyin Ergen and opened fire on Ergen as he attempted to flee. 

One of the 7 bullets fired from the handgun struck Ergen in his right leg, and another hit his left calf. While the suspect fled the scene on foot, Hüseyin Ergen got into his vehicle and received treatment at a private hospital he reached in Side. ARREST DECISION ISSUED

Following the incident, the vehicle used in the attack was identified as a result of 14 hours of meticulous work by the Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Gendarmerie Criminal Investigation Team (JASAT).

In the operation conducted, the driver of the vehicle and the gunman who used the weapon were apprehended. Both suspects were arrested by judicial authorities and delivered to the Manavgat Closed Penal Execution Institution. As the investigation continued, Y.K., A.Ç., Y.A., and F.E.D., who were considered to be the planners and instigators of the incident, were taken into custody. 

The 4 suspects, one of whom was in a wheelchair, were referred to the courthouse under heavy security measures following their processing. The 4 suspects referred to the Manavgat Courthouse were arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace.
