Arrest warrant issued for Fatih Tezcan: Refused to provide address to police
An arrest warrant has been issued for Fatih Tezcan, who has frequently made headlines for his remarks targeting Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Republic, following the consolidation of several cases against him. It has been learned that Tezcan is abroad and refused to provide his address to the police.
A new development has occurred regarding Fatih Tezcan, who faces numerous criminal complaints in various provinces and over 500 reports due to his insulting remarks directed at Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Following the consolidation of the lawsuits into a single file, the court issued a warrant for Tezcan's arrest.
Various non-governmental organizations, led by the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD), as well as individual citizens, had previously filed criminal complaints in response to Tezcan's statements. The cases opened by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices in Bursa, Yalova, Lüleburgaz, Istanbul Anatolian, Büyükçekmece, and Istanbul were consolidated at the Büyükçekmece 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance, with the defendant facing charges of "publicly insulting the memory of Atatürk," "publicly degrading a segment of the public," and "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."
Searches conducted at addresses associated with Tezcan failed to locate him. Authorities contacted Tezcan via the mobile phone number registered in the POLNET system. However, Tezcan stated that he was abroad and refused to share information regarding his address.
Tezcan, who has made headlines for similar reasons in the past, was imprisoned in August 2022 for "insulting Atatürk" and was released on probation approximately one year later.
