In the incident that occurred yesterday in Beşiktaş Levent, Banu Sönmez, who was traveling with her child, began to move slowly in traffic that was heavy due to road construction work. Subsequently, Banu Sönmez got out of her vehicle, thinking that another car had scraped against hers while passing on her right.

"DON'T BE A SMART ALECK," SHE SAID, AND WAS ATTACKED

Upon this, Sönmez said to the woman in the other vehicle, "Be careful, you were about to hit my car, and besides, so many people are waiting in traffic with their vehicles; you are trying to be a smart aleck and cut in by violating traffic rules from the right."

Following the woman's responses containing insults and profanity, Sönmez got into her vehicle. As the unfortunate woman got into her car and began to move, the aggressor began to attack by punching through the open window. Other drivers in the vicinity struggled to separate the woman who was pinning Banu Sönmez inside the vehicle and beating her with punches.

AGGRESSIVE WOMAN CAUSED TERROR

Sönmez, who experienced sheer terror alongside her young child who was with her, went to the hospital after the incident and obtained a medical report for the assault. The police, who launched an investigation following the complaint of the woman who then went to the police station, identified and apprehended the aggressive woman in a short time. The events were reflected moment by moment on the mobile phone cameras of other drivers.

"THE WOMAN PINNED ME AGAINST THE DOOR"

Describing the terrifying moments she lived through, Banu Sönmez said the following:

"I was beaten by an aggressive woman today while I was taking my child home from school. There was a lot of traffic in Gültepe because the road had collapsed. At that moment, while I was going through the underpass, a female driver coming from the right was scraping my car. I couldn't understand what she was trying to do. I said, 'If everyone is waiting, you should wait too.' She cursed and insulted me. When the traffic cleared, while I was moving, that woman suddenly punched me through my window when I least expected it. I was beaten for minutes. The woman pinned me against the door. My child and I were both terrified. Even though what she did is a crime, she is beating me in front of my child. She didn't give me any chance to defend myself. We experienced great fear. I called 112 and stated my complaint. I also went to the police station and I will seek my rights to the end. This woman is mentally unstable. She cannot treat me this way and assault me. She cannot make us live through these moments while her child is with her and at my most vulnerable moment. I have had surgery. I still have her nail marks on my hands. I was beaten inside my car. I am filing a complaint to the end. She must pay the price."
