Asset freeze lifted for 7 individuals linked to ISIS and Al-Qaeda
In accordance with a new decision published in the Official Gazette, the asset freeze previously imposed on 7 individuals over alleged links to ISIS and Al-Qaeda has been lifted.
Following decisions made by the United Nations Security Council, an important change has been implemented regarding certain individuals whose assets were previously frozen due to alleged terror links. The measure, lifted under Article 5 of Law No. 6415 on the Prevention of the Financing of Terrorism, bears the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
With the decision announced in the Official Gazette, the sanctions previously applied to Majeed Abdul Chaudhry, Hafız Absul Salam Bhuttavi, Aamir Ali Chaudhry, Mustafa Hajji Muhammad Khan, Mohammad Tufail, Abdul Rehman Makki, and Maulana Fazlullah, who were listed under the heading of “natural persons linked to ISIS and Al-Qaeda,” have been revoked.
The change in question was enacted by amending the supplementary list included in the Council of Ministers decision dated September 30, 2013, in compliance with United Nations Security Council resolutions 1267, 1988, 1989, and 2253.
