Atatürk banner banned at Atatürk Stadium: Allegations that the banner was not allowed into the stadium!

A banner crisis occurred before the critical TFF 2nd League Play-Off final match between Muğlaspor and Elazığspor played in Bursa. While hundreds of fans traveled from Muğla to Bursa by bus for the final match, an incident at the stadium entrance sparked controversy.

ALLEGATION THAT "THE BANNER WAS NOT ALLOWED INTO THE STADIUM"

According to the allegations, the banner belonging to the Muğla branch of the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD), which read "Atatürkist Thought Association Muğla Branch," was not permitted to enter the stadium.

In a statement made by the association, it was stated that the incident took place at the entrance of the Bursa Atatürk Sports Complex Matlı Stadium. The statement claimed that the police officers on duty took a photo of the banner and sent it to their superiors, and subsequently, it was reported that the banner could not be brought inside in accordance with the instructions received.

"THERE IS NO BAN ON ASSOCIATION BANNERS IN THE CIRCULAR"

In a statement made by ADD Muğla Branch President Cahit Yaka, it was stated that the circular issued by the Bursa Governorship before the match only contained a ban on banners with political and separatist content.

The statement argued that there was no explicit prohibition clause regarding association banners, and that despite this, they objected to the banner not being allowed into the stadium, but were unable to achieve any results.

REACTION: "ATATÜRK NAME BANNED AT ATATÜRK STADIUM"

The association management reminded that the match was played in a stadium bearing the name Atatürk and criticized the blocking of a banner from an association that carries the name of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

ADD Muğla Branch President Cahit Yaka used the following expressions in his statement:

"We explained the contradiction of banning an association founded with the name of our Republic's founder and Commander-in-Chief, and the name Atatürk, at a match to be played at Atatürk Stadium, but it was in vain. The police officers said, 'There is nothing we can do, we have superiors.' This is a disrespect to the name of Atatürk and the principles of Atatürk."
