Attack on TKP members in Konya

As part of the November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and Women's Solidarity Committees held events across many parts of Turkey.

ATTACK BEFORE THE PRESS STATEMENT

One of these took place in Konya today. Before the press statement was to be held in Konya, individuals belonging to the Ülkü Ocakları attacked the TKP members. However, the attack was repelled, and the November 25 press statement subsequently took place.

During the statement, KDK and TKP members expressed their reaction to the incident with slogans of "We will not bow to darkness."

"OUR FEMALE FRIENDS WERE ATTACKED"

The statement from Konya TKP regarding the attack is as follows:

"Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. A group from the Ülkü Ocakları, wanting to provoke the work we were doing today, attacked our female friends who were present at our activity and tried to obstruct our work. Let those who try to stand in the way of our struggle know that they will not be able to prevent the struggle we are waging to eliminate violence and exploitation against women."
