Attack on Turkish flags with Atatürk posters in the metro
A suspect who attacked Turkish flags featuring Atatürk posters, which were hung in a metro station in Istanbul for the October 29 Republic Day, has been arrested.
Plainclothes police officers and security guards who saw a person tearing down Turkish flags featuring Atatürk posters, which had been hung at the Karadeniz Metro Station for the October 29 Republic Day, intervened in the situation.
While being taken into custody, the suspect slightly injured a police officer and a security guard at the metro station.
SUSPECT HAS A RECORD FOR VARIOUS CRIMES
The suspect, identified as E.T., was taken to the police station. It was determined that E.T. has a total of 14 records for various crimes, and proceedings were initiated against him for "insulting the spiritual memory of Atatürk and degrading the symbols of the state's sovereignty" and "resisting to prevent the performance of duty (resistance)."
The suspect, who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station, was arrested by the judgeship and sent to prison.
