An audit had been launched into Ahbap, which had become a subject of debate and was targeted due to donations collected following the February 6 earthquakes. Ahbap founder Haluk Levent made a statement regarding the matter. Announcing that the audit initiated by the Ministry of Interior has concluded, Levent said, "We have completed this process with our heads held high. Thank God, we did not let our donors down."
Levent's statement is as follows:
"Following the February 6 disaster, donations were made to Ahbap by philanthropists for earthquake relief efforts. Six months ago, the audit process of our Ahbap Association was initiated by auditors from the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Civil Society Relations.
I had explained this to the entire public. I stated that I would account for our expenditures and all our activities to my state and its authorized boards. And today, we have completed this process WITH OUR HEADS HELD HIGH. Thank God, we did not let our donors down.
During the Ministry of Interior's audit process, all our contracts, the purchases we made, the agreements we entered into, and our stocks (examined one by one in all regions) were audited and inspected in a transparent manner, and I felt the need to write this tweet today. How happy for us.
I would like to express my gratitude to the institutions of our state that we worked with during this process, to @AFADBaskanlik and our governorships, to the civil society organizations we collaborated with, and to you, our donors; we will continue to be here for you with new projects."
