Automatic messages from banks to citizens
A legislative proposal submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by the AKP plans to introduce a tax on credit card limits. Following the announcement of the proposal, citizens have been applying to banks to lower their card limits.
A new legislative proposal submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by the AKP includes a tax regulation targeting credit card limits.
According to the proposal, individuals with a credit card limit of 100 thousand TL will be charged an annual contribution of 750 TL to the defense industry fund. This regulation has caused widespread repercussions on social media and among the public.
CITIZENS TAKE ACTION TO LOWER CARD LIMITS
Following the news of the regulation, many citizens applied to banks' call centers to lower their credit card limits.
As requests flooded into banks' customer services, some banks began leaving automatic messages stating that the legislative proposal has not yet entered into force.

STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY
Some banks have added the following statement to their call center lines:
"The regulation proposed for the collection of a contribution share for the defense industry from credit cards is a legislative proposal submitted to the TBMM and has not yet entered into force. We would like to state that there is no regulation currently in effect regarding the news published in the press and on social media."
