Award for Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who was deemed worthy of the '4-Star Recognized for Excellence' award, stated, 'We must be extremely frugal and transparent when using public resources, the people's resources.'
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş has been deemed worthy of the “4-Star Recognized for Excellence” award, determined by independent evaluators and an independent award executive board appointed within the scope of the “EFQM Model Studies” conducted by the Turkish Society for Quality (KalDer) since April 2022.

The Board of Directors of the KalDer Ankara Branch visited ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş to present the award.
Yavaş, who has been targeted by media outlets close to the government due to expenditures made on concert events, touched upon the importance of transparency, the frugal use of public resources, and a citizen-oriented service approach.
Expressing that a friendly demeanor and citizen satisfaction must also be among the essentials in public services, Yavaş said, “We provide public service on behalf of the citizens. Since the citizens cover all our expenses, we are obliged to offer them the best, highest quality, and most friendly service.”
Drawing attention to the fact that the perception of public officials in Turkey needs to change, Yavaş criticized negative habits from the past, stating, “In the past, public officials were accustomed to acting as if the citizens were dependent on them. Our duty is to serve the citizens and facilitate their affairs.”

“WE MUST BE EXTREMELY FRUGAL AND TRANSPARENT”
Stating that the ABB continues to increase its work based on the principle of “transparency,” Yavaş continued as follows:
“We must be extremely frugal and transparent when using public resources, the people's resources. I believe that all public institutions in Turkey should lay out their expenditures before the eyes of the public. This must now become a management philosophy.”
Stating that social support is provided to 200 thousand families in Ankara and that they view social assistance as a right of the citizens, Yavaş said, “The only reason for people to be in this situation is the governments. Failure to prevent poverty, lack of transparency, and failure to ensure fair income distribution are responsible for this picture. For this reason, we provide aid in a way that protects human dignity, viewing social assistance as a right.”
At the end of his speech, ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş invited all public administrators to work more transparently and in a citizen-oriented manner, saying, “We will work together to reach a country where our children will live in peace.”
