Bad news for retirees and minimum wage earners from AKP's Şamil Tayyar! He gave a date for 'abundance and prosperity'

Economic expectations for 2026 were discussed on the Medya Kritik program, which airs on TGRT Haber, a channel close to the government.

During the program, while the statements by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek regarding the improvement of liquidity conditions in the markets were being analyzed, former AKP deputy and journalist Şamil Tayyar made assessments regarding when retirees and minimum wage earners would experience tangible relief.

Pointing to the long-standing difficulties in the economy, Tayyar stated, 'Turkey has been struggling with these economic hardships for 5 years. It has caused serious and heavy damage to the budgets of low and fixed-income earners. I believe we need much more significant reforms in the new process.'

'2027 WILL BE A YEAR OF ABUNDANCE AND PROSPERITY'

Touching upon expectations regarding the minimum wage, Tayyar stated, “I do not expect a second minimum wage increase or a flat-rate raise in July,” indicating that he does not foresee any additional increases in the short term. He pointed to 2027 for the actual comprehensive regulations.

Tayyar expressed that significant salary increases covering retirees, civil servants, and minimum wage earners would come to the agenda in 2027, and that a flat-rate raise would also be included in the regulations to be made during this period.

Defining 2027 as a “year of abundance and prosperity,” Tayyar stated that the effects of the tight monetary policy would continue throughout 2026, and that real economic relief would be felt in 2027.
