Bahçeli lashes out at Tom Barrack: 'It is clear that he knows no bounds in his insolence'

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli continues to share his assessments on current issues through an interview with the newspaper Türkgün, which is close to his party.

Bahçeli spoke about the second opening process, of which he is the architect, as well as the Pope's visit to Turkey and the operations against CHP-run municipalities regarding corruption allegations.

Stating that the show-based religious and historical rituals during the Pope's visit to Turkey disturbed the Turkish nation, Bahçeli said, "We have an objection to covert propaganda and coded messages. We cannot remain silent and indifferent to the desire to revive a council held 1700 years ago in Nicaea. There is no point in selling snails in a Muslim neighborhood."

Bahçeli gave the following response to the question, "Are you satisfied with the developments regarding the goal of a Turkey without terrorism?":

“The issue is not so much my personal satisfaction as it is the continuous execution of reasonable and result-oriented work. The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) has held its 18th meeting. The listening and consultation phase is behind us. Three valuable members of the commission have met with the founding leader of the PKK in Imrali. Now, the writing of the Commission report, which concerns the transition process, has taken its turn.

Therefore, I believe that a common will will manifest in the TBMM for the completion of legal regulations. I hope that the self-sacrifice displayed so far will continue with the same intensity so that the political, democratic, and legal dimensions of the process can be carried out rapidly.

With the roadmap to be determined and established, a Turkey without terrorism must find its place and existence starting from 2026. There is no time left. We have entered the final stretch. Our nation will embrace peace with excitement. Social peace will prevail. For this reason, I am at ease. I believe that every party that has provided members to the commission is acting with a sense of responsibility, and I thank them all."

"IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE MOST SERIOUS CORRUPTION OF THE CENTURY BE BROUGHT TO LIGHT AND THAT JUSTICE BE SERVED"

Bahçeli also said the following regarding the operations against CHP-run municipalities:

“Unfortunately, the CHP stands on the wrong side of history. The fact that the CHP has ended up at the doors of the courts is primarily a legal matter. Despite this, it is my wish that this party achieves internal balance and order. However, things have gone awry in the CHP. The call for purification from corruption made against the CHP administration is a correct call.

Those who sent off Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday with tears and cheers are now showing him the door. It is evident that the CHP is struggling in an area of three S's: Söğütözü, Saraçhane, and Silivri.

Bribery, corruption, and malfeasance cases have devastated the party of the Great Atatürk. It is not a correct or principled stance for the CHP administration to accuse everyone they come across. If they want to see something else in the mirror, changing the image in front of the mirror, rather than the mirror itself, is the most reasonable choice.

The instability of the CHP and its deep break from its historical line will negatively affect Turkish political and democratic life. The internal turmoil in this party is their own business. It is not our place to comment on this, and it is not our business. However, there is a terrible accusation of bribery and corruption that the CHP must account for, and which is even impossible to face.

The content of the prepared indictment is indeed very serious. Self-confidence is required to face it, and political morality and wisdom are required to accept the facts. It is essential that the most serious corruption of the century be brought to light and that justice be served. We have full confidence in the Turkish judiciary."

REACTION TO TOM BARRACK: IT IS CLEAR THAT HE KNOWS NO BOUNDS IN HIS INSOLENCE

Bahçeli reacted harshly to the statement by US Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack that they would open the Heybeliada Seminary in 2026.

The MHP leader stated, “It is clear that these domineering, aggressive, and impositional attempts, proposals, and assessments do not take our honor of independence and future into account, and that they know no bounds in their recklessness and insolence. Our issue is not the Pope's visit or his diplomatic initiatives. Our issue is the activities to revive the memory of the Council and its memories that have remained in the dark.”
