Balıkesir Sındırgı Mayor announces latest situation in earthquake zone: 2 people are under the rubble
It has been reported that more than 10 buildings collapsed in the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. The Mayor of Sındırgı stated that there were no fatalities but announced that efforts are underway to reach two people trapped under the rubble.
In the Sındırgı district ofBalıkesir, a 6.1 magnitudeearthquakeoccurred. Following the earthquake,while significantsupport was dispatched to the region, it was reported that there was major damage in the district.The tremor was also felt in surrounding provinces, but No information regarding loss of life has been shared so far.
STATEMENT FROM THE MAYOR OF SINDIRGISTATEMENT
Speaking to Habertürk,Sındırgı Mayor Serkan Sak provided information regarding theinspections conductedin the district following the earthquakeandmade statements. Sak stated that60-70 percent of thedistrict has been reached, but that there is stillno information yet regardingloss of life.

Mayor Sak stated thatalong with reports coming from the villages, more than 10 buildings in the districtstated that they were completely destroyed.It wasstated that citizens managed to escape from the rubble of some of the collapsed buildings using their own means.

Mayor Sak stated that currentlythe biggest concernis the two people remaining under the rubble. EffortsAs the work continues, it was reported that rescue teams are tryingto reach these two citizens.
