Ban on Russian, Israeli, and Iranian goods imposed in Syria

The Syrian Border and Ports Authority issued a circular yesterday banning the entry of Iranian, Russian, and Israeli goods into the country. The new government had previously announced that it had banned the entry of Iranian and Israeli citizens into the country.

The Syrian government has taken a decision to ban the entry of Iranian, Russian, and Israeli goods into the country. In a statement by the Syrian Border and Ports Authority, it was announced that the Ministry of Finance's circular dated December 17 prohibits the entry of goods originating from Iran, Israel, and Russia into Syrian territory. It was learned that the decision would be distributed to all land and sea border port authorities.

The decision comes after an official circular banning the entry of Iranian and Israeli citizens into the country. Furthermore, airlines operating in Syria had also been notified that they were prohibited from transporting Iranian and Israeli citizens into the country.

Turkish Airlines, which has begun flights to the capital Damascus, had also announced that it would comply with the decision and would not transport citizens of the two aforementioned countries to Syria.
