Behind the scenes: 'Lay down arms' call from Öcalan may come within 2-3 days

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan announced that an application has been made to the Ministry of Justice for a third İmralı meeting. Doğan stated, "Ahmet Türk is also among the applicants."

Habertürk TV Ankara Representative Fevzi Çakır suggested that PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan will make a "lay down your arms" call to the PKK within 2-3 days.

Çakır said the following: 

"A video call was being considered so that Öcalan's call could be clearly understood and reach a wide audience. However, there will be no video statement; it will be written. It is stated that Öcalan's statement is ready. It is highly likely that it may be made public within 2-3 days. This statement will be a historic move. There is no negotiation involved from the state's perspective. What will happen here is this: The Republic of Turkey will not give anything to the organization in return for this call. There will be a call from the leader of the organization to the organization to lay down arms. It will be entirely directed at the organization; they will be told to lay down arms. The stance that the terrorist organization will take will also be closely monitored by the Republic of Turkey state."
