Bolu Tunnel to be extended due to landslide risk on Istanbul-bound side

The Istanbul-bound side of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel, one of Turkey's key transit points, will be extended by 70 meters after the Eid al-Adha holiday to mitigate landslide risks. While a decision made in January had announced a 60-meter extension, it has now been stated that the distance will be increased by an additional 10 meters, reaching a total of 70 meters.

Bolu Tunnel to be extended due to landslide risk on Istanbul-bound side

During the Provincial Coordination Meeting held by the Bolu Governorship in January, it was announced that the tunnel tube on the Istanbul-bound side of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel would be extended by 60 meters during the summer months to address landslide risks.

At the Provincial Coordination Meeting held in April, 4th Regional Director of Highways Mehmet Fidan stated that the Bolu Mountain Tunnel tubes would be extended by 70 meters on the Istanbul-bound side to mitigate landslide risks.

Fidan noted that last year, the tunnel tube on the Ankara-bound side of the TEM Highway's Bolu Mountain Tunnel section was extended by 90 meters due to landslides.

Fidan announced that the Istanbul-bound side of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel will be extended by 70 meters after the Eid al-Adha holiday to counter the risk of landslides.
