Bosphorus traffic suspended due to passage of Cameroon-flagged tanker

The Cameroon-flagged tanker named Asteri, which was recently targeted by an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) attack at Russia's Port Kavkaz, is passing through the Bosphorus today. It was decided that the tanker would be guided through the strait accompanied by tugboats belonging to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety to ensure it continues its journey safely.

Authorities reported that transit ship traffic has been temporarily suspended while the Asteri tanker passes through the Bosphorus. Bosphorus traffic is expected to return to normal once the necessary security measures have been completed.

Such measures are rarely implemented during the passage of a tanker reported to have been attacked, especially in the Bosphorus, where maritime traffic is heavy.
