Breaking News: 12 more detained in Ahmet Özer investigation!

As part of the investigation into CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was arrested in Istanbul on charges of "being a member of the armed terrorist organization PKK/KCK" and replaced by a trustee, 12 more suspects have been detained.

In the work carried out by the Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the investigation into uncovering the activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK, 12 suspects were identified who were determined to be members of the organization's TDÖ structure and were found to have had continuous and intense contact with Ahmet Özer.

In the investigation, where it was determined that 6 of the suspects were delegates of the organization's HDK structure, it was identified that they were the individuals who did not raise their hands following the statement "Those who say PKK/YPG/PYD is a terrorist organization, raise your hands" made by the then-Mayor of Akdeniz, Mustafa Gültak, during the Mersin Akdeniz Municipality council meeting on July 4, 2022.

In the investigation, while it was determined that 5 suspects engaged in terrorist organization propaganda, it was also identified that 1 suspect was actively involved in organizational activities linked to the KCK structure and the organization's so-called "Justice and Peace Commission" structure.

Following the detention order issued by the prosecutor's office, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch took action and apprehended the 12 suspects in simultaneous operations.

The processing of the suspects at the police station is ongoing.
