A verdict has been reached regarding Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran and his brother Alan Kenan Saran, who were on trial for allegedly encouraging illegal betting. The verdict has been announced in the illegal betting case heard in Istanbul concerning Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran and his brother Alan Kenan Saran. The court ruled that the two defendants committed the crime of "encouraging individuals to engage in illegal betting through advertising or various other means" and imposed prison sentences and fines.

SARAN DID NOT ATTEND THE HEARING

Defendant Sadettin Saran did not attend the hearing held at the Istanbul 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance. While the lawyers for the parties were present at the hearing, Saran's final defense could not be taken as he was not present in court.

TFF REPRESENTATIVE REQUESTED PUNISHMENT

Taking the floor at the hearing, the representative of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) requested that the defendants be found guilty and punished. The defense attorneys, on the other hand, stated that their clients did not accept the accusations leveled against them and requested an acquittal.

COURT ANNOUNCED ITS VERDICT

Announcing its decision following the trial, the court sentenced Sadettin Saran and Alan Kenan Saran to 2 years and 6 months in prison each for the crime of "encouraging individuals to engage in illegal betting through advertising or various other means."

In addition to the prison sentence, the court also decided to impose a judicial fine of 562 thousand 500 Turkish Lira on each of the two defendants.

An acquittal was issued for defendants Emre Eren and Azade Zeynep Haksal, who were tried as part of the same case. The court ruled for the acquittal of both defendants regarding the same charge.

WHAT HAPPENED?

An indictment had been prepared against Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Saran regarding allegations that illegal betting advertisements were broadcast during a match aired through the media group he owns.
