The General Directorate of Security (EGM) has announced that 6 individuals have been apprehended and judicial proceedings have been initiated regarding the incidents that occurred during the Spring Festival at METU.
The General Directorate of Security issued a statement regarding the events that took place on the Middle East Technical University campus on May 6, 2026.
It was stated that there was a need to issue a statement following posts on certain media outlets and social media accounts.
The statement emphasized that the Turkish flag is the greatest symbol of the nation's will for independence and the struggle for the homeland. It was expressed that the flag represents the memory of the martyrs, the sacrifices of the veterans, and the spirit of independence of the nation.
The EGM reported that 6 individuals identified as being involved in the incidents during the concert held as part of the Spring Festival have been apprehended.
The statement noted that judicial proceedings have been initiated against I.K, M.E.Y, O.A, M.F.G, C.E, and B.D.

"There has been a need to issue a statement following posts on certain media outlets and social media accounts regarding the events that occurred on the Middle East Technical University campus on 06.05.2026.
Our glorious crescent-and-star red flag is the greatest symbol of our nation's will for independence, the struggle waged for our homeland, and the sacred trust protected by our ancestors at the cost of their lives. Our flag keeps the cherished memory of our martyrs, the unique sacrifice shown by our veterans, and the spirit of independence of our nation, which never bows under any circumstances, alive forever.
6 individuals (I.K, M.E.Y, O.A, M.F.G, C.E, B.D) identified as being involved in the incidents during the concert held as part of the Spring Festival have been apprehended and judicial proceedings have been initiated.
