Breaking News: 74 CHP provincial chairs issue a call to Kılıçdaroğlu!

While the crisis over the 'absolute nullity' ruling continues within the CHP, a move for an extraordinary convention has come from delegates supporting the elected Chairman Özgür Özel.

74 provincial chairs have delivered 833 notarized delegate signatures for an extraordinary convention to the CHP General Headquarters.

Among those who brought the signatures were not only the 74 CHP provincial chairs but also CHP Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir.

Following the delivery, the CHP provincial chairs held a press conference in front of the general headquarters building.

"ABSOLUTE NULLITY IS A BLACK STAIN"

Stating that the 'absolute nullity' ruling is a 'black stain' on democracy, the CHP provincial chairs said, "As provincial chairs representing the Republican People's Party organization and its members, we are fulfilling our responsibility to our country and our nation with unwavering unity to remove this black stain."

The provincial chairs, who are demanding that the convention be convened immediately, stated the following:

"The only way to break this dark game orchestrated by the Palace is to convene our Convention as soon as possible without wasting time. In this context, we have delivered the signatures we collected together with our provincial chairs and representatives from 81 provinces to the relevant authorities today. Following the return of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the chairmanship with the absolute nullity ruling in the CHP, the party's elected management is immediately requesting an extraordinary convention.

'MILLIONS OF CITIZENS ARE AGAINST THIS INTERVENTION'

CHP's elected leader Özgür Özel had stated that the party should go to a convention within 45 days and that they were making efforts in this direction. The notarized signatures of our 830 convention delegates, together with the signed declarations of will from our 170 Istanbul convention delegates demanding a convention, have clearly demonstrated the convention will of 1003 people. We would like to emphasize that 682 votes were cast for our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel in the first round of the November 2023 convention. We are delivering these signatures not only on behalf of our convention delegates, our organizations, and our members, but also on behalf of the tens of millions of our citizens who stand against this political intervention directed at our party."

The statement ended with the words, "Our Chairman is Mr. Özgür Özel, who was elected 4 times by our Convention. Our Presidential Candidate is Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was nominated with the votes of 15.5 million citizens. Our party, our ancestral home, is the Republican People's Party. MURAT EMİR: "A CONVENTION DECISION MUST BE MADE"

At the same time, CHP Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir also held a press conference in Parliament. Emphasizing that the party bylaws are very clear and that the sufficient number of signatures for an extraordinary convention has been reached, Murat Emir said, "As a requirement of respect for the party, a convention decision must be made. According to the bylaws, if one more than the absolute majority of the delegates requests an extraordinary convention, the chairman goes to an extraordinary convention within 45 days."

Reacting to the excuse of the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu camp that 'We cannot go to a convention because there is a precautionary injunction,' Emir said, "There is no legal basis for saying this.
