Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that 52 suspects were apprehended in the 'Sibergöz-7' operation, which was conducted simultaneously in 10 provinces centered in İzmir, targeting crimes of opposition to the Law on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions (Law No. 7258) and laundering of assets derived from crime.

Minister Yerlikaya provided the following information regarding the operations in a statement on his social media account:

"I would like our noble nation to know that we continue to closely monitor those who commit the crime of opposing the Law on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions. We are on their heels. Under the coordination of the Department of Combating Cyber Crimes, a total of 52 suspects who committed the crimes of illegal betting and laundering of assets derived from crime were apprehended in the SİBERGÖZ-7 operation, which was carried out simultaneously in 10 provinces—İzmir, Balıkesir, Manisa, Eskişehir, Mardin, Mersin, Kocaeli, Bursa, Burdur, and Hakkari—by the İzmir Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate.

It was determined that these suspects obtained information subject to the investigation through illegal means from a local journalist working in İzmir, transferred this information to the organization they formed, and that 2 football players playing in lower leagues were also involved in panel and money management.

During the operation, a large amount of digital material was seized. I congratulate our police officers who carried out the operations. May God protect them. Our nation's prayers are with you. Our operations against illegal bookmakers will continue to increase."
