An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 occurred at 21:58 in the Yaylacık region of Balıkesir's Sındırgı district.

According to AFAD data, the tremor, which took place at a depth of 12.6 kilometers, was also felt in surrounding provinces and districts.

In the city experiencing an earthquake swarm, the 5-magnitude earthquake sent citizens into the streets, and a short while later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a statement on his social media account regarding the earthquakes centered in Sındırgı.

Minister Yerlikaya used the following expressions in his statement:

"A 4.8-magnitude earthquake has occurred in Sındırgı, Balıkesir. Regarding the earthquake, which was also felt in surrounding provinces, all teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have immediately begun field surveys. Developments are being monitored. I offer my best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake. May God protect our country and our nation from disasters."
