Breaking News... Bahçeli rejects election results: 'After 81 Düzce, making the TRNC 82 is a matter of life and death'

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli is speaking at his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Bahçeli began his speech by addressing the presidential elections in the TRNC.

Declaring that he does not recognize the results following the election in the TRNC, Bahçeli said in his speech at his party's group meeting, "Cyprus is our national cause. The proposal for a federation in Cyprus has no validity. The TRNC must join Turkey."

Bahçeli reacted to reports of a 'crack in the People's Alliance' regarding the election in the TRNC.

He emphasized that the reports in question were disreputable and baseless.

"Wherever the truth is, we are there. We will voice our explanatory words, which are the manifestation of the truth, without bending or twisting them. The essence of the MHP is true, natural, and its word is straightforward. We will not compromise on shouting the truth just because others might be offended.

Turkish Cypriots went to the polls last Sunday to elect the 6th President of the TRNC. The turnout was 62.83 percent, and Tufan Erhürman was elected the new President. Mr. Ersin Tatar, on the other hand, unfortunately fell behind, receiving 35.77 percent of the votes cast. As soon as the provisional results of the elections were clear, I shared my views and assessment with the public. The result of the election held in the TRNC was achieved with very low participation. The fate of the Turkish Cypriot cannot be represented with this level of participation. The TRNC parliament must convene immediately, declare that a return to a federation is unacceptable, and take the decision to join the Republic of Turkey.

'THERE IS NO CRACK OR EXPLOSION IN THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE, BUT...'

No matter how widespread the claims that the roof of the People's Alliance has flown off, the vase has cracked, or there are differences of opinion, expressions of cracking, exploding, flying, or running away are disreputable and baseless until Turkey reaches the peaceful, secure, and prosperous days it deserves! However, it is my wish that everyone comes to their senses, reads the elections in Cyprus well, and carefully interprets how the route full of mines leading to federalism will reflect on our country.

The issue has nothing to do with democratic rights or respect for the ballot box; the issue is a matter of the homeland, a matter of survival and security. It is a matter of honor and dignity.

The possibility that the political will, which is closed to a two-state solution in Cyprus and gives a green light to federalist aspirations, will revive the painful events of the past is a threat that should not be underestimated. Steering toward a federation is to waste the Turkish Cypriot in the mill of assimilation. No political proposal has the right to do this!

"AFTER 81 DÜZCE, MAKING THE TRNC 82 IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH"

Everyone should make their calculations accordingly. The TRNC parliament must convene immediately, declare that a return to a federation is unacceptable, and take the decision to join the Republic of Turkey. No power will be able to stand in the way of the right to say 82 Kirkuk and 83 Mosul immediately after 81 Düzce. After 81 Düzce, making the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus 82 has now become a matter of life and death.

A conspiracy mechanism, constructed to undermine, destroy, and intimidate the steps toward a Turkey without terrorism and advanced with different justifications, is currently in operation. Words, claims, and ambitious demands that touch the nerve endings of the Turkish nation are aimed at diluting the environment of peace, tranquility, and brotherhood. A Turkey without terrorism is not a guise or a secret refuge for a divided Turkey, a Turkey whose division has been imagined, or a Turkey whose roof has collapsed. Those who serve this are under an obligation from which they cannot escape before history and the law."
