Breaking News: DEM Party delegation that visited İmralı shares Öcalan's message! Response to 'coup against Bahçeli' claim
The DEM Party İmralı Delegation issued a written statement regarding their meeting yesterday with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.
DEM Party İmralı Delegation members Pervin Buldan, Mithat Sancar, and Faik Özgür Erol visited İmralı yesterday, two days before the meeting of the resolution commission, to meet with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.
AKP member Şamil Tayyar had claimed that Öcalan said, "If it is not successful, a coup will be carried out against Devlet Bey within the MHP." Bahçeli had responded to this claim by saying, "Coup claims are nonsense."
The DEM Party İmralı Delegation, which visited the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Öcalan, issued a written statement regarding the meeting.
The statement also provided a response to the claim of a coup against Bahçeli.
The statement is as follows:
"On December 2, 2025, we held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı that lasted nearly four hours. The positive impact and results of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Commission meeting held last week were mutually evaluated.
Mr. Öcalan recalled the sabotage attempts developed against past resolution initiatives regarding the recently intensified anti-process rhetoric and outbursts. He drew attention to the mechanics of a coup as a situation and a habitus encountered in all these processes. He emphasized that this should not be understood as a classic coup effort, but rather as an attempt to create a fragile and dangerous environment by making a move against every step taken to advance the process. Stating that 'Today, these circles act as carriers for non-normative forces. On the other hand, a political and social will is strengthening to overcome the tradition of coups, which is a culture, a style of politics, and a form of secret-open organization that left its mark on Turkey's first century,' he made the following assessment:
'In the transition process we are in, the phenomenon of political violence and non-democratic intervention will be removed from Turkey's agenda with the realization of a peace law based on unique and holistic law. We can also call this the law of transition to the century of peace. Our February 27 statement is a guiding program in this respect as well. All steps taken in this direction are clear expressions of the responsibility we have taken and our goal of living together fraternally in these lands.
'Every political and social segment that wants to use the chance of governance and power in Turkey correctly must approach political problems consistently and be a partner in a democratic solution. This process is a process of ensuring the participation of Kurds in the republic through legal means and building a democratic republic with the broadest social unity. I would like to state once again that we have a strong will and a determined stance regarding the process that is progressing in this direction.'"
