Breaking News... Espionage investigation into Ekrem İmamoğlu
An investigation has been launched on charges of espionage against CHP presidential candidate and imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, his election campaign director Necati Özkan, and journalist Merdan Yanardağ. While Yanardağ has been taken into custody, police are conducting a search at the TELE1 channel.

Furthermore, Necati Özkan, who manages İmamoğlu's election campaign, and journalist Merdan Yanardağ have also been included in the scope of the investigation.
Meanwhile, police teams conducted a search at the TELE1 channel. The search began immediately after Yanardağ was taken into custody.
ALLEGATION THAT USER DATA IN THE APPLICATION WAS SOLD TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office claims to have reached various data as a result of the documents and technical physical surveillance of an individual named Hüseyin Gün, who was arrested on July 4 on charges of espionage.
It is alleged that materials belonging to Hüseyin Gün show he held meetings with individuals linked to the terrorist organization FETÖ/PDY; it is also claimed that Hüseyin Gün met face-to-face with Mustafa Özcan, who is alleged to be the 'FETÖ imam of the UK'.
It is claimed that Gün also established contact with İmamoğlu's campaign director Necati Özkan, and a hierarchical link is also being mentioned.
It is alleged that activities were carried out to manipulate the 2019 local elections 'in participation with foreign intelligence services'.

There, the accusation of unlawful use of personal data is also directed, and there is a second investigation file regarding the İBB here as well.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office claims that the personal data and location information of 4.7 million people were leaked to foreign countries through the 'İstanbul Senin' application.
In this context, it is among the allegations that the ballot box data of a total of 11 million people were leaked outside the program.
In this context, detention warrants were issued for 13 individuals.
6 companies affiliated with the İBB are also under investigation.
There is also an allegation that two of the individuals taken into custody violated the 'Tax Procedure Law'.
