The Ministry of National Defense held its weekly press briefing.
Following the meeting, a statement was made regarding the dismissal of Konya 3rd Main Jet Base Commander Major General Mete Kuş.

As we have emphasized before, our Turkish Armed Forces view all events within the framework of discipline and carry out procedures in accordance with the relevant legislation."
WHAT HAPPENED?
During the Turkish Cup quarter-final match between Konyaspor and Fenerbahçe, the sound of F-16s and Sikorsky helicopters passing around the stadium reached the live broadcast. It was revealed that the flight order for the aircraft had been given by Konya 3rd Main Jet Base and Garrison Commander Major General Mete Kuş. Following this order, which was known to be in support of Konyaspor, Kuş was removed from his post and reassigned to the Air Force Command Headquarters.
The pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak claimed in its report titled "Why did they dismiss the guardian: Why is Mete Kuş being targeted" that Kuş had long been a target of FETÖ.
In its report, the newspaper wrote that the flights during the match were not in support of Konyaspor, but were routine training flights.
