MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, in his statement regarding the claim, said: “The CHP is the most important political institution that has existed since the day the republic was founded. We hope that this institution will not be allowed to be stirred up from within, fragmented, legally damaged, or used for other purposes. Therefore, instead of continuing its path by being divisive, making harsh criticisms, and belittling the people it is with, the CHP should choose to meet with the nation. Attending the memorial ceremony held in Ankara for Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan, Özel stated that he found Bahçeli's remarks to be important.
