Breaking News: First statement from Mansur Yavaş after investigation permit granted!
The Ministry of Interior has granted permission for an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and his Chief of Staff Nevzat Uzunoğlu regarding concert expenditures.
The Ministry of Interior has approved the opening of an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş and his Chief of Staff Nevzat Uzunoğlu on charges of "misconduct in office" and "neglect of supervisory duty" following allegations of irregularities regarding the municipality's concert expenditures.
Following the indictment prepared as part of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the municipality's concert expenses, the office had requested investigation permission from the Ministry of Interior, stating that the allegations against Yavaş and Uzunoğlu were being evaluated under these two criminal headings.
It was stated that the Ministry accepted the request and granted permission for the investigation into Yavaş and Uzunoğlu.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM YAVAŞ
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş included the following statements in a social media post following the decision to grant investigation permission:
As it will be recalled; within the scope of the "concert investigation" conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, investigation permission was requested from the Ministry of Interior for an indictment in which my name was not even mentioned.
Upon this request, the Ministry assigned inspectors to our municipality, and I submitted my written statement. The Ministry has now decided to grant "investigation permission" regarding me and my Chief of Staff on this matter, for which it did not even see a need to take a statement previously.
However, while decisions were made in dozens of complaints regarding the previous term stating that a mayor cannot be held responsible for the work done by units, the implementation of the exact opposite today is a clear double standard. It is impossible to accept this understanding of justice that operates differently for everyone.
We have full faith that justice will be served sooner or later and that this decision will be overturned by the judiciary. Let it not be forgotten; the law will be needed by everyone one day.
Furthermore, we will use our legal right and appeal to the Council of State as soon as possible.
I will share a more comprehensive statement with the public on Monday.
