Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who resigned from the CHP, appeared before the cameras after filing a criminal complaint against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Holding a press conference at the municipal building, Özarslan said:

"As you can see, we are at our post. We will continue to serve the public. While we were aiming to elevate our services, some began to exert incredible pressure and mobbing on us. The messaging incident with the Chairman two days ago constitutes insults and defamation against my family. We announced that we would no longer be in the CHP and have resigned in such an environment. We will continue to serve our people with the motto of serving the public. We will continue on our path by protecting the rights of all voters who voted for us on March 31.

"I FILED A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST ÖZEL"

Following this messaging incident directed at me, I filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel as of this morning. Furthermore, other members of my family said, 'We also want to file a complaint.'

It truly saddens us that the chairman of a party we call Atatürk's party is in such a petty position."

Speaking about the second peace process, referred to as a Terror-Free Turkey, Özarslan continued:

"Both our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Devlet Bahçeli, whom we call the Wise Leader, have initiated an effort. One should not look at this effort with a partisan mindset. They have opened their hearts and arms to everyone. As mayors in local governments, we will continue our services by serving our people without discriminating against anyone, in this call for unity and solidarity.

At this point, we will serve our CHP brothers and sisters without any discrimination. Our cause is a single cause, and that is the cause of humanity.

As a believer in this cause, taking refuge in Almighty Allah, we will continue to serve our people in Ankara and Keçiören within the cultural codes we have received and our past education.

I will not ignore the attacks made on my family. I am an honorable, dignified Muslim Turkish son. Therefore, I am sure that the supreme Turkish justice will hold them accountable for this."

Regarding allegations that he would join the AKP, Özarslan stated, "I am independent and continuing my service. We have not sat down and talked about anything."

PORTAŞ INVESTIGATION

Speaking about the PORTAŞ investigation launched against him, Özarslan said, "There is no such thing during my tenure. They continue to be slanderers. Mesut Özarslan is a Muslim Turkish son. I am someone who knows what the rights of the state, down to the last penny, mean. These are all empty, baseless words."

"I DO NOT THINK YAVAŞ HAS ANY STANDING ACROSS TURKEY"

When asked about the post made by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş regarding him, Özarslan said:

"He stayed there so as not to fall out with his party. Mansur Yavaş came with the support of the nationalist, conservative, and idealist community. Kılıçdaroğlu gave him a chance, and that is how he was elected.

The day the nationalist, conservative, and idealist structure stops supporting Mansur Yavaş, I do not think Mansur Yavaş will have any standing across Turkey, let alone in Ankara."

Continuing his speech, Özarslan lashed out at CHP leader Özgür Özel and noted the following:

"Özgür Özel deleted the messages; why did you delete them, Özgür Özel? Does the state not see this, does technology not see this? I will hold you accountable for that 'bastard' remark, which acts as if my late pilgrim mother was a bad woman and my late pilgrim father did not exist. What does the word 'bastard' mean? Do I understand something else? I leave it to the conscience of the people of Ankara. He cannot escape this; he has disgraced himself before Turkey. I think his party members will also punish him for this. Mr. Özgür Özel will not be able to get out of this quagmire.
