Breaking News: First statement from Özgür Özel following the tension at CHP Headquarters! 'Kemal Bey called last night...'

Following the appellate court's decision of absolute nullity, the activity around the CHP Headquarters continued throughout the night. After allegations that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu wanted the party headquarters to be 'evacuated,' many party members and citizens arrived at the Headquarters building in Ankara.

As the density around the building increased from the night hours onwards, tension occasionally arose between some individuals said to be close to Kılıçdaroğlu and the party members keeping watch. Security measures were increased after the scuffle between the parties.

ÖZEL: 'KEMAL BEY CALLED LAST NIGHT'

Making a statement after the events, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke to Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk. Stating that they had determined representatives from both sides during the meeting with Kılıçdaroğlu, Özel used the following expressions:

"Kemal Bey called last night, we talked. I told him that I would call him back after evaluating the situation with our Party Assembly members and deputies, and a study was conducted according to the picture that emerged. In the meeting with Kemal Bey, we decided that two names from each side should participate in the talks. We chose Suat Özçağdaş and Murat Emir as representatives, and Mahir Polat and Orhan Sarıbal on behalf of Kemal Bey's group were going to come together today at 14:00 to discuss what could be done and when the party could be taken to a convention."

'THEY STARTED COMING IN FRONT OF THE HEADQUARTERS'

Stating that different groups had been gathering in front of the Headquarters since the morning hours, Özel said the following:

"However, starting from 07:00 this morning, we saw that some people, whom we suspect are armed with guns and knives and are not CHP members, started to come in front of our Headquarters. Our friends, of course, started to resist this situation. We are trying, first and foremost, to save our friends from such an incident so as not to bring our youth face-to-face with these individuals, some of whom we know to be bodyguards."
