A major operation targeting illegal betting was carried out by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch, under the coordination of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

In the investigation, which was based on a report prepared by MASAK, it was determined that the former president and some executives of a sports club were the owners of an illegal betting site. It was established that the suspects laundered the proceeds of crime obtained from these activities through various sports clubs.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was revealed that the money generated from the illegal betting organization was transferred to club accounts using the bank accounts of the relevant sports club's accountant and some employees.

In line with these findings, simultaneous operations were conducted at addresses identified in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Hatay, and Diyarbakır. During the operation, 8 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.

Furthermore, 3 companies, 1 football club, 6 vehicles, 3 motorcycles, 7 apartments, 6 plots of land, and 1 workplace were seized, while a large number of digital materials were confiscated during searches at the addresses.

It was learned that the seized football club is Diyarbekirspor.

It was reported that the investigation regarding the detained suspects is ongoing.
